Scammers use the names of real agencies. Check an offer before you pay anything or send your documents.
Polaris never charges candidates
Finding you a job is free: you never pay to apply, for an interview or for being hired. Croatian law forbids employment agencies to charge workers. If anyone asks you for money in the Polaris name, it’s a scam.

Signs of a fake offer
You’re asked to pay for the job
Someone wants money for the job, for “processing” or to hold your place. No agency may charge you for a job in Croatia. For the visa you only pay the official fee, directly to the embassy or the VFS centre, and you get a receipt.
Only WhatsApp or social media
The recruiter has no office or company you can check, and writes only from a free e-mail address or through WhatsApp, Telegram or Facebook.
“Come on a tourist visa”
With a real offer, your employer gets your residence and work permit before you travel, and you then apply for a work visa. A promise to “sort out” a tourist visa later is a sign of fraud.
No written contract
Before you leave you should have a signed contract or offer that names the employer, the pay and the conditions, in a language you understand.
A “guaranteed” visa
Nobody can guarantee a visa or speed it up through “contacts” at the embassy or the VFS centre. Only the embassy decides.
Too good to be true
Very high pay for easy work, and you could be leaving within days.
Your passport, or cash without a receipt
Nobody may keep your passport, and every payment should come with an official receipt.

Compare the contact
Look at the address, number or profile the offer came from and compare it with our official contacts on this page. If they don’t match, the offer isn’t from us.
Send us the offer
Forward the offer, contract or message to our official e-mail address and tell us who sent it and how. We’ll tell you whether it’s ours.
Check the recruiter in your country
Each of these countries keeps a list of licensed recruiters or takes complaints. Look the agency up there before you sign anything or pay anyone.

Ministry of External Affairs (MEA): check that the recruiting agent is registered, and report fraud, on the eMigrate portal.

Migration Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers: licensed private employment agencies and the official portal for jobs abroad.

The Ministry of Labour licenses companies that recruit for jobs abroad. Complaints go through the government’s complaints portal.

Employment Agency of Kosovo. Report fraud to the Kosovo Police on 192.
- North Macedonia
The Ministry of Economy and Labour keeps the register of private employment agencies. Report fraud to the police on 192.

Tell us
If someone is using the Polaris name, send us their name, number or address and screenshots of the messages. It protects other people too.
Croatian police
Report fraud on 192 or 112, at any police station, or in writing. You can report anonymously.
192Forced to work?
If someone keeps your passport, won’t let you leave or forces you to work, call the Croatian Red Cross SOS line, daily from 10:00 to 18:00, or 116 006 at any time.

Report unpaid work, poor housing or an agency that charges candidates to the State Inspectorate. Your identity is kept confidential.
